Today I listened to part one from a four week Podcast series called Apps from Pastor Sam at Grand Rapids First Church. It’s crazy how something like mobile apps can take up so much of our time each day. Pastor Sam brought up a simple math problem which you have probably heard before, reading the Bible for 12 minutes a day for 365 days, is the amount of time it will take to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Occasionally I post and talk about TV shows and movies, but the 30 minutes or hour I have to watch TV each day is put into perspective when someone I look up to tells me only 12 minutes a day can help me read the Bible from cover to cover. But the amount of time I watch TV is very small compared to the time I spend using mobile apps. It’s a weird element to my everyday life, apps like CNN, ESPN or Angry Birds take up 4 times the amount of time it would take to follow Pastor Sam’s 12 minute plan of reading the Bible. Grand Rapids First just came out with a mobile app that has this very study guide, video and audio podcast on it, maybe that’s the solution.Apps!
